We embrace sustainability in all we do.
Once you step into the college, you’ll find a cosy lobby furnished with second hand rattan furnitures purchased from 2ND Chance, which are not only easy to maintain, comfortable for students to use, but also elegant in style for important occasions!We also give home to some beautifully hand-crafted, upcycled student chairs with love from our friends in the community.
Stylish, durable, stackable, and carry memories from our good old days, the chairs were designed by LAAB, chequered fabric stitched together with leather leftovers by teams at &Care and A-Soulroom and donated to us by Smiley Planet!
At New College, we can host up to 417 students, including 54 single rooms, 177 double rooms,
and 9 disabled rooms.
Each single room is about 8 sq.m, while a double room is about 15 sq.m. All rooms are furnished with beds, wardrobes, writing desks with lamps, chairs and bookshelves. In addition, the rooms are all connected to the HKU Campus Network with data ports for easy internet access.
Laundry and air-conditioning services are operated via a ‘pre-paid smartcard’ device.
On every floor, there is a communal lounge equipped with hot and cold drinking fountain, hot plates, microwave oven, refrigerator and television. There are also share-used wash-rooms and shower stalls.
Many of our activities take place in the function rooms on the 3rd floor.
We have a music room, study room, student common room, and a seminar room.
The College Hall is a shared facility amongst all Colleges for communal events like High Table Dinners and other social activities.

Did you know? There are some solar photovoltaic panels installed on our rooftop! Their electricity generation capacity is around 7,500 kWh per year.
